Join the Met Family - Volunteer Today!

Do you love art and science, helping people and working in a fun, stimulating environment? Have a few hours to spare every week or two? If so, why not consider becoming a volunteer? Folks from all over the Central Valley have made the choice to volunteer their time to the Met. Whether you are a retiree or working professional, teacher, student or homemaker, the Met needs you!

Habla Espanol? Parlez-vous Francais? Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Nihongo o hanasemaska?
Fluency in more than one language is helpful but not required. If you speak a second language, you can help us share the excitement with our visitors from around the world. We have a special need for volunteers who can assist us with our many Spanish-speaking visitors.

There are 3 ways to volunteer:

1. Become a Visitor Services Volunteer
You'll greet Met visitors, answer "about" questions, assist with special events and projects, and assist the Met staff in education, operations, marketing, and visitor services.

Anyone age 15 and up is welcome to apply. Ongoing training is provided. Weekday, weekend and some evening shifts are available and can accommodate a variety of schedules.

Apply online here. To apply by fax or mail, please download our application as a PDF.

2. Become a Docent
Learn more about becoming a docent through our Docent Education Series

3. Join the Met Club
Founded in 1983 by a dedicated group of volunteers with incredible vision, the Metropolitan Club is an integral part of the Museum. Met Club volunteers have raised in excess of $1,500,000 over the past 25 years through their special fundraising events and exhibitions, including Christmas at the Met, Met in Bloom and many others. To receive more information about the Met Club, fill out an application form here.
