Educational Outreach Manager

The Educational Outreach Manager will demonstrate excellence in the areas of management, leadership, teamwork, customer service, competency/quality, and contribute to the organization’s success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create and oversee the development, implementation, management and assessment of an art and science outreach program at the Met (Met on the Move).
• Supervise, train, and schedule Outreach staff for on- and off-site outreach needs.
• Develop interactive, inquiry- and standards-based educational outreach activities that explore art and science connections.
• Develop standards-based educational materials related to outreach program.
• Teach art and science lessons at schools and community events.
• As necessary, attend evening and weekend meetings, special events, and outreach activities.
• Supervise operation, maintenance and housing of the Museum outreach vehicle; maintain strong working relationship with City of Fresno.
• Serve as backup driver for Met on the Move vehicle.
• Oversee educational outreach budget; purchase and maintain inventory of materials and supplies.
• Working closely with Reeves ASK Science Center manager, maintain the schedule for outreach vehicle visits to schools and community events; oversee and coordinate sharing of vehicle with City of Fresno.
• Schedule and attend internal and external museum meetings.
• Maintain collection and organization of source documents and supporting materials including both hard copy and online resources.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of outreach efforts.
• Serve as backup in absence of Science Center Manager.
• Serve on the Program Group.
• Develop community partnerships with professionals and educational institutions.
• Research and stay current on education, museum education, art and science.
• Attend Institute of Inquiry and Visual Thinking Strategies professional development workshops.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in art, science, education, or related field.
• Interest in art, science and museum education and inquiry as a teaching method.
• Minimum of two years experience teaching and leading youth programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience working with diverse audience and staff members.
• Computer and Internet literacy.
