Broege Construction workers combine water, sand, and concrete to form a plaster mix. This mixture is sprayed onto the lathe (wire mesh) and black tar paper as the first of three plaster layers. This “scratch” coat is similar to a primer that provides a basecoat and allows the next layers to adhere.
