MET DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES RETIREMENTAfter nearly 10 years of serving as Executive Director of the Fresno Metropolitan Museum, Kathleen Monaghan will retire from her position on May 31st. Under her leadership, the Met has achieved national and international recognition. Hosting world-class exhibits, developing and traveling exhibitions from its own collection across the country and will soon send work to three museums in Japan. The Met has become an affiliate institution of the Smithsonian and been accredited by the American Association of Museums. Ms. Monaghan’s decision to retire was based on her desire to spend more time with family. A national search for a new executive director is currently underway, and with several good candidates in the running, the board has plans to announce Ms. Monaghan’s successor in the coming months. Ms. Monaghan will continue to work with the Met as a consulting curator of exhibitions and will return in November to participate in the grand reopening celebrations. We wish to thank Kathleen for her tireless efforts and dedication to the vision of the Met. Join Museum Society now!
