The museum holds a collection of Asian fine arts including over 200 Chinese snuff bottles from the 17th to the 20th century donated by Mary Alice Diener. In addition the collection consists of Japanese porcelain ware, and a variety of decorative arts from many cultures.

The collection includes a large selection of 19th and 20th century California landscape paintings, a gift from Dr. and Mrs. John D. Relfe. The landscape painters include artists such as David Cox, Maynard Dixon, Hugo Anton Fisher, Thomas Hill and Chris Jorgenson. In addition to the paintings is a group of 36 large botanical watercolors by painter-illustrator Abigail Lyman.

The complex puzzle collection, donated by Charles and Sharon Small and Dr. Harlan F. Ellis, includes more than 1200 jigsaw puzzles, beginning with an early work by London cartographer and puzzle originator, Lord John Spilsbury. The collection of American and European puzzles dates from the inception of the puzzle to the present day.

The Salzer collection consists of more than sixty trompe-l'oeil (French for "fool the eye") and still-life paintings from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. A selection of paintings was on national tour from 2003-2005.
