Winter Camp

Young people can remain active and engaged during their winter break from school by attending Winter Camp at the Met 2006 from December 18 – 22, 2006. Through a variety of motivating activities, children will create memories to last a lifetime. In addition to the hands-on extravaganza of creativity, children will interact with more than 30 hands-on science exhibits at the Reeves ASK Science Center. Not only will they explore the joy of creating artwork they will experience science first hand.

Camps meet on a day by day basis. Advance registration is recommended to assure a space for your child; walk-ins are accepted if space is available.

Cost per day: $30 members, $40 non-members, all materials included
Grades: First – Sixth
Time: 8:30am – 3:00pm
Location: 933 Van Ness, Reeves ASK Science Center

Monday -
Tinkering and Toy Making Workshop: puppets, tops, snow globes, taking things apart and building new things.

Tuesday -
Aerial Adventure: flying objects, parachutes, planes, mobiles, boomerangs, helicopters, and rockets.

Wednesday -
Winter Harmony: building instruments like drums, chimes, rain sticks, flutes, trombones and learning about sound and sound effects.

Thursday -
Ornament Exploration: plaster cast ornaments, origami and garlands, to decorate for the holidays.

Friday -
Snowy Day: art activities like card making, paper crafts, printmaking and lanterns.
